Aargau / Kaiseraugst, February 26, 2026 I Change in the group organisation of Thommen Group: New management team at Thommen Switzerland as of 1st March 2026
Thommen Group continues to advance its organisational development and will introduce a new management team for Thommen Switzerland effective 1 March 2026. This decision reflects the sustained growth of the Swiss site network in recent years, driven by targeted acquisitions. To address the resulting increase in operational complexity, an additional management layer will be established, assuming overarching responsibility for all Swiss operations of the Thommen brand.
Under the new organisational structure, Georges Janett and Philippe Scherer will assume the roles of Managing Directors of Thommen Switzerland. In this capacity, they will jointly lead the Swiss Thommen companies and work in close coordination with the Group Executive Board.
Georges Janett brings more than 20 years of experience in the recycling industry and has been closely associated with the Thommen Group since the very start of his career. He began at Thommen AG in Kaiseraugst with an apprenticeship as a recycler and has continuously progressed within the Group. Alongside his professional development, he completed a degree in business administration. After holding various management positions with responsibility for multiple sites, he most recently led the Thommen Group’s operations in western Switzerland. As a recognised expert in metal recycling, Georges Janett also serves as an examination expert for recyclist vocational training. Thommen Group is proud of his career path, which exemplifies the successful development from recyclist apprentice to a highly competent member of senior management.
Philippe Scherer brings extensive senior management experience from a range of industries, including finance, automotive and food. In executive roles, he has led the strategic development and restructuring of companies. He has served as CEO of the Wiederkehr Group since May 2023. Together with Georges Janett, Philippe Scherer will play a key role in shaping and further developing the Thommen brand in Switzerland going forward.
With the introduction of the new management team at Thommen Switzerland, Thommen Group is further strengthening its organisational structures and clearly positioning the company to meet future requirements.
